Iron-on patches are a convenient choice when you want to apply a patch without sewing. The heat-activated backing is applied with a suitable iron or heat press, making it practical for many heat-safe fabrics.
They are commonly used on cotton and denim clothing, jackets, hoodies, T-shirts, hats, and bags. An iron-on patch for jeans is an easy way to personalize denim without sewing.
Before choosing an iron-on backing, make sure the fabric can safely handle heat. Delicate, heat-sensitive, coated, or specialty materials may be better suited to another backing.

When a patch needs secure, long-term attachment, sewing is a dependable option. A sew-on patch backing is secured directly to the item with stitches, so the attachment does not depend on heat-activated adhesive.

Velcro patches are a practical choice when a patch needs to be removed, replaced, or switched regularly. The Velcro or hook-and-loop backing attaches to a compatible loop surface, allowing the patch to be changed without sewing it on each time.
Custom Velcro patches are commonly used on tactical gear, uniforms, bags, hats, name patches, and other interchangeable applications.
If the item does not already have a compatible loop surface, one may need to be added before the patch can be attached.
